Moutheater @ MACRoCk

It's just days away. I'm stoked. I've been attending the conference for years. It's definitely a small accomplishment to be playing it.
We're on the showcase on Friday at Blue Nile. We're playing with Young Widows, Pygmy Lush and a bunch of other bands.
After the show we're gonna head over to another bar (that I can't remember the name of right now) to hang out. Our buddy Dave of Custom Made Music is throwing an after party so we're gonna go party with him and watch Screen Vinyl Image (who I think are the best band on his label at the moment as well as very nice people) tear it up.
Saturday morning I'm going to hang with Mike (who runs our label Thrashed) at the label expo. I'll have to play the rest of Saturday by ear seeing as how I don't have a place to stay that night.

Woe

Went to see Woe last night. They played with Bastard Sapling. Both bands are great. Check them out if you get a chance. A Spell For The Death Of Man (the Woe album) is really incredible.

Debris Amour-Notations In Negativity

The lyrics are finished. I have all of the musical ideas worked out, compiled and in a notebook. I'll be in the studio in April to lay everything down. The plan is to release it as a two part series on cassette on Swim Harder Cassettes. Each cassette will be a c30.

Idestructible Wolves Of The Apoclypse Junkyard

While relaxing on a little overnight vacation I took this weekend I finished this book (I'm a slow and ADD reader, I know). I loved it. The last two stories in particular are amazing. Here is an excerpt that I particularly fell for:
"More than ever, I hated drugs and the outside world so much for making us search for another cure besides love to keep ourselves numb to all of the daily grind, the pain, the hatred, and the frustration of simply being too smart to function like the others. I knew that girls like her and boys like me were born far too sensitive to get along well in the dying days of humanity, but fuck their world for trying to cast us as the outsiders. We weren't the ones who made a fucked up place where the only way to cope was with a shot from a fluorescent street corner."

Also my copy of Kevin Drumm's Imperial Distortion arrived in the mail. Very pleased with this.

Some thoughts on Sunn O)))

I think what they're doing with heavy music is incredibly important right now. They are the epitome of the "less is more" aesthetic within heavy music and that line of thinking is something that has alway fascinated me and that I subscribe to in my daily/musical/artistic life. Their stuff is very compositional and non traditional. They get lumped in with bands like Neurosis which is why I think there are a lot of people that dislike them. People go into it thinking it's gonna be like Times Of Grace and then they're dissapointed. You have to go into it with the same mindset that you would have when listening to a classical recording.

Guts

Finally, we have posted a new Moutheater song on the internet entitled "Guts". It's off of our upcoming album called "Ornament". Go to either the Moutheater link or the Thrashed Records link on the side of this page to listen. Here are the lyrics:

///Guts///

I am an ugly boy
That always wants more
The more I know
The more I shut the door
And you can't ever know
What goes on inside this sick fucking head
The older I get the more I hate everything

Hate

You can break apart my nervous lips
And suck the scabs off my eyelids
My own perceptions
Are wishes that never come true
It consumes me head first in you
My own deceptions soar high

High

Notations In Negativity...

...is the working title of the first Debris Amour release. I'm working on ideas and lyrics now. I've booked time in April at OO recording. It'll be out on cassette on SHC sometime in May if everything goes according to plan.
