Untitled Confession

I have a hard time relating to people and sometimes it bothers me to the point where I will sit and dwell on it for unhealthy amounts of time which only makes it worse. I feel extremely awkward and can't ever seem to properly express myself the way I'd like to in most social situations.

Change only exists...

...within you. The world has been operating the same for hundreds of years. War, money, and power have kept the world turning in one way or another for centuries. It's not gonna change. The moment you realize that and become comfortable with it is the moment you free yourself for real change.

I think the best way to go about changing anything is to create a personal set of standards that you believe in and live your life by. Lead by example. Change things that you can actually effect within your community, your group of friends, etc. Those are things that you have an impact on.

Small groups of people that have worked hard and made a place (both figuratively and literally) where they and their ideals can exist and flourish are the real inspiration. I've luckily had the pleasure of meeting people like this from time to time in my life and I've taken a lot from those experiences that I've applied to my own life.

The world is hopeless. Create your own.

I don't understand...

...the mindset of insecurely going with the flow and/or giving weird halfway opinions on things because you're scared of what others will think.

Don't go with the flow if you don't agree with it and definitely don't bother speaking out if all you've got is some soft ass "I could go either way" sort of safe, bullshit opinion.

Don't ever be afraid to have an opinion different than the one that "everyone else" appears to share. Chances are that most of the mob haven't really thought out anything at all.

People doing and saying things...

...for the sole purpose of stroking their own egos is really off-putting. It's really easy to see through as well.

Some people say too much...

...because they're afraid of saying too little.

The Adventures Of The Past Few Days

So this past Sunday Moutheater played in Brooklyn with Doomriders and Acid Tiger. I had decided to go up a few days early and stay in the city. Moutheater had practice Thursday night and then early Friday morning my wife and I began our Journey to NYC. We arrived around 1pm and stopped by Hospital Productions on the way to our hotel. As usual, I picked up a large quantity of cd's, records, and cassettes from Mr. Fernow. He picked up the last of the Werewolf Jerusalem cassettes my label put out and a few copies of the new Moutheater album for the store. We then went to check into our hotel and get some dinner.

The next morning we went out for some activities around the city and around 12:30pm we headed back downtown to meet up with my friend Jake who was coming into town from DC to hang out with us for the weekend and act as merch guy for the Sunday Moutheater show. We met him at HP so he could pick up some records and then headed over to Generation Records for a not so fruitful record hunt. We got some lunch and then headed back to the hotel so that Jake could check in and we could all rest. We had the NON/Prurient/Cold Cave show ahead of us that evening and we were not trying to be tired for such an event.

We all got rested and headed down to Santo's Party House (which I am told is owned by Andrew W.K.) for an amzing evening put on by The Heartworm Press of performances by NON, Prurient, Cold Cave, Genesis P-Orridge (Pyschic TV, Throbbing Gristle), Jonathan Shaw, Kid Congo Powers (The Cramps, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds), Jamie Stewart (Xiu Xiu), Eric Paul (Arab On Radar), and Chris Leo. One of the best shows I've ever seen. I enjoyed every minute of it. I picked up a limited Prurient 7inch and 1 of 23 specially made boxes of zines and mix cd's put together by Max G. Morton for the evening.

Sunday morning Jake and I headed out to some instrument shops because Jake was looking to buy either a guitar or a synth. After a while of checking stuff out we end up downtown at the Guitar Center on 14th street where we met Larkin Grimm of Young God Records. She happened to be picking up the same synth that Jake was looking at getting.

That evening we head over to Brooklyn for Moutheater's show with Doomriders at The Union Pool. We get there, meet up with Nate and the promoter and get everything straight for the evening. Our set went off without a hitch and I spent the rest of the evening eating tacos from the amazing cart on the back patio and watching the other bands. Some friends from NJ that Moutheater had played/stayed with on our spring tour came up to hang out and my buddy Mike who I've known for about 10 years and now lives in NYC came out as well. Our friend Hunter ended up coming up from Richmond and showed up a little later in evening just in time for Doomriders set. Lots of familiar faces and great food and bands made for an amazing evening.

Monday morning it was time to leave. We headed out to get some pizza and Pinkberry and hit the road home. When we arrived I headed out to the studio to drop off some of the gear. Once I got back I noticed that my legs were swelling up. I took some ibuprofen and went to bed. When I woke up this morning my legs were even worse. I went to the doctor who recommended I go the the ER. I'm now home with medicine. It seems that I might have gotten some sort of infection in my legs from having bad blisters on my feet from all the walking and then deciding to switch to flip flops, leaving my wounds out in the open for something nasty to crawl in them.

Here is my list of music that I picked up on the trip:
